Subject: Mather Meadows

Great, Great News!! We are going to meet our fund-raising goals for the Mather Meadows project. The contracts have been signed by the Trust for Public Land and the deposit check given to the McPhersons. It is a go!

Special thanks go to the Mather Meadows committee and co-chairs Susan Brewer and Bruce Orr. The fund raising plans were executed with tremendous success. We reached out across the community and received support from all generations, neighborhoods, and organizations.

Special thanks also go to Denise Sellhausen, who as Auction Chairperson created, developed and executed an inspiring event which became the town wide catalyst for support in the campaign’s final weeks.

The Mather Meadows project has been a huge success. We were able to successfully complete the Land Trust’s first major fundraising campaign and have significantly increased awareness and understanding of the Land Trust within the Darien community. And all this was accomplished by a first time without a professional fund-raiser in a very difficult market and economy.

The committee’s next steps include:

Secure pledges from those who plan to support the project.

Convert verbal pledges into written pledges.

Send handwritten thank you notes to all donors.

Receive all gifts by October 2003 (note some gifts will be paid in multiple years)

A full recap will be given at the next board meeting on November 14, 7:30 p.m. at the Scout Cabin. Please call Terrie or Jay if you have any questions.

Spread the good news and celebrate the success!
