Mather Meadows Land Protected (CT) This completes the
first phase of protection for the historic Mather Meadows
property. The Land Trust of Darien will
own and manage most of the six acres as public open
space. TPL will work with the land trust to complete
the project
this fall by purchasing an additional three acres from

Mather Meadow Art Auction
On the evening of October 19, 2002, the
Land Trust of Darien held it’s first ever fundraiser to culminate the
purchase of an important piece of historic property, Mather
Meadows. It was a grand culmination. It reflected the heart
and soul of the many professionals, neighbors and friends
of the Darien Land Trust who collaborated toward the success
of the most ambitious acquisition in its history. What
could have simply been parcels of land labeled only plat
survey number 109 & 62, section SE & SW in the
town of Darien valued at approximately 3.8 million dollars,
became a focus of stewardship, protection and creativity.

Campaign to Save Historic Meadows Gains
Momentum
Private Fundraising Drive Reaches Milestone
Darien, CT: The campaign to permanently protect the
9-acre Mather meadows property near the intersection
of Stephen
Mather and Brookside Roads passed an important milestone
today, with the announcement that $1.4 million in contributions
and pledges has been raised. This represents the halfway
mark in the campaign to raise $2.8 million private
donations needed to complete the $3.8 million purchase
of the property.
